A teenager has been jailed for stabbing a 15-year-old boy during an attempted robbery in Portslade.

The attack occurred on Valley Road just before 2:30am on Tuesday 9 August.

The victim was chased down the road by two boys, before one of them stabbed him in the back.

He's since made a full recovery.

A 16-year-old boy from Portslade pleaded guilty to GBH with intent and possessing a knife.

He's been sentenced to 16 months in a youth detention centre.

A 16-year-old boy from Hove who was involved in the stabbing, pleaded guilty to attempted robbery, and received a two year supervision order.

Rose Horan, who investigated the stabbing, said "the motive behind this pre-meditated attack was robbery."

“In terms of youth crime, this is about as dangerous and cowardly as it gets. It could so easily have had a tragic ending."
