Teenager charged with attempting to steal moped in Eastbourne

The 17-year-old is also accused of other offences, including driving while disqualified and being in possession of cannabis.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with attempting to steal a moped in Eastbourne.

The teenager, from Seaford, was arrested after police received a report of an attempted theft in Princes Road on Tuesday night, February 28th.

He is also accused of other offences, including driving while disqualified, driving otherwise than in accordance with a license and being in possession of cannabis.

Police Constable, Marcus Cox, of the Eastbourne Criminal Investigation Department, said: “We have seen a spate of thefts and attempted thefts of motorbikes in Eastbourne over recent weeks and we are asking the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour to us.

“When a report is received, we will always try to get to the scene as quickly as possible.”

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been released on condition bail and was due before Hastings Youth Court today, March 20th.
