Police have arrested two teenagers following a stabbing in Worthing which left a 16-year-old boy in a potentially life-threatening condition.

The teenager was rushed to hospital following the attack in Liverpool Road at around 5.30pm on Monday (February 13th).

A 13-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm.

Both remained in custody as of Tuesday morning.

Forensics teams were spotted at the scene following the incident, which happened close to a McDonalds restaurant in the town.

Chief Superintendent Jo Banks of Sussex Police said:

"This is a fast-moving investigation and the public will see a significant police presence around the town centre as we establish the full circumstances.

"We are exploring a number of lines of enquiry to identify those responsible and bring them into custody."

Police are urging any witnesses to contact police online or via 101, quoting Operation Central.
