East Sussex Highways have confirmed Station Road has reopened after a car crashed into a level crossing barrier during a police pursuit in Berwick.

Sussex Police say a blue Alfa Romeo was pursued by officers as it was believed to be stolen and on cloned plates.

The force said after crashing into the barriers, the car failed to stop.

The road was closed in both directions but it has now opened back up.

The police say attempts to locate the driver of the vehicle remain ongoing.

Network Rail confirmed nobody on board was injured.
