Some lines have now reopened at Bognor station after a train came off the tracks early this morning (22 October).

The Bognor to Littlehampton passenger train left the tracks while leaving platform 4 of the station at 5.23am.

Southern said the vehicle was travelling at a 'very slow speed' at the time of the incident.

No-one was hurt and all those on board got off safely.

The station is still running a reduced service until further notice as a result of the incident, but is expected to return to normal tomorrow (23 October).

Network Rail and Rail Accident Investigation Branch staff are on site and investigations are said to be ongoing.

National Rail has said early news was that "two sets of points have been damaged, so as well as the derailed train having to be lifted back onto the track, these will have to be repaired before we are allowed to run a full service".

People are advised to check their journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.
