Parts of East Sussex could see sleet or even snow as the Met Office issues a yellow weather warning for snow and ice tomorrow (Friday 1st April)

The warning comes into force from midnight and is expected to last through until 10am, which could lead to travel disruption for some.

It comes a week after the county saw the highest temperatures of the year so far, with some places seeing highs of 18 degrees.

What to expect

  • • Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
  • • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

A Met Office spokesperson said: "A band of rain, sleet and snow is expected to affect parts of east and southeast England during Friday morning.

"For many, this will fall as rain and sleet though away from coasts and particularly over any higher ground in Kent there is a chance this will fall as snow with some 1-2 cm of snow possible for a few spots.

"Wind borne snow and sleet is likely to affect visibility on roads, adding to the difficult driving conditions. Any snow will melt later Friday morning."
