A shop worker has needed stitches to his face after challenging a suspected thief in St Leonards.

The victim tried to stop a man from leaving the premises in Kings Road last month, January 14, but was attacked.

The suspect reportedly walked to a second shop in London Road shortly after where it is alleged he racially abused another member of staff.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone who saw a young man wearing grey trousers, a grey top and a black hooded jumper to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to report it online or by calling 101, quoting serial 669 of 14/01.
