Shop worker assaulted during armed robbery in Worthing

Sussex police would like to speak with anyone who has information following an armed robbery at Worthing News in Rowlands Road yesterday evening (Thursday, 3 December).

At around 6.10pm they received reports that staff had been threatened by two men with a firearm.

They reportedly left the store with ÂŁ400 from the till and four bottles of vodka.

One victim was assaulted and suffered a minor injury that did not require hospital treatment.

The first suspect is described as a white man, bald, in his mid-30s, with blue eyes and wearing a black hoodie and a black backpack.

The second suspect is described as a tall man with dark brown eyes, wearing a face mask and also wearing all black.

Detective Inspector Pauline Lane said:

"We are pursuing fast-time lines of enquiry to identify and trace these two suspects and are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or who has information that may assist us.

"We would also urge anyone who was in the area around the time of this incident and has CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage to get in touch straightaway.

"If you know anything that could help us with our investigation please report it to us online or via 101, quoting Operation Everdon."
