Severe weather warning of fog for West Sussex

Visibility could be less than 100 metres in places

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for fog for Friday morning (November 6th) covering part of West Sussex.

It warns fog and freezing fog patches could be dense in place, with visibility in some areas of less than 100 metres.

There is a risk of slower journey times through the rush hour with delays to bus and train services.

The alert only affects areas in the northern part of the county, including Horsham, Crawley and Gatwick Airport.

It remains in place until 10am.

The Met Office weekend forecast for the South East:

Today:

A cold and frosty start with patches of mist and fog. These clearing through the morning to leave a dry day with light winds and prolonged spells of sunshine. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

A dry and chilly night with predominantly clear skies, However, it is likely to become rather murky later in the night as low cloud spreads in from the southwest. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Saturday:

Most places seeing a rather cloudy and murky day with fog on hills, but the far east of the region may be brighter. Milder than of late. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

A mild but rather cloudy and murky period. Largely dry, although some outbreaks of rain will affect western parts at times and patchy drizzle is possible near the coast.
