The South East Coast Ambulance service are asking for our support as they prepare for a hike in incidents over Brighton Pride weekend.

Organisers say 500,000 people are expected to take part in celebrations across the 3rd and 4th of August.

Operating Unit Manager Paul Fisher said that they're used dealing with drink and drug incidents in the city, however Pride will see them experiencing it on a larger scale due to the amount of visitors.

He said: "Those volumes tend to increase quite significantly.

"Therefore, we're urging people to make sure that while they're having fun, they're also looking after themselves and the people they're with."

He shared advice on how to get help if you find yourself in trouble - but urged people to still dial 999 if they need immediate help:

"We've got the 111 service for advice and guidance.

"Accident and emergency's likely to be busy but we've got provisions in walk-in services and local pharmacies."

SECamb are expected to unveil an ambulance wrapped especially for Pride celebrations.

Fisher continued: "We just urge you to have fun. Brighton's such a vibrant city, and Pride's such a fantastic event.

"So if you are coming, have fun, be safe and hopefully we won't need to see you."
