Prolific West Sussex shoplifter jailed
More than £18,000 worth of goods were stolen from shops over 12 offences.
A prolific shoplifter has been jailed after targeting businesses across West Sussex.
Andrew Lewis, of no fixed address, committed 10 shoplifting offences and two burglaries between August and September this year.
Police said the 39-year-old is responsible for thousands of pounds worth of stock being stolen from shops in Chichester, Bognor Regis and Worthing – including Sports Direct, Marks & Spencer and Iceland.
Lewis was sentenced to 20 months at Lewes Crown Court and was also handed a Criminal Behaviour Order for five years.
Sergeant Sam Milsom said: “The court has dealt Lewis a robust sentence, especially when considering the level of his offending and his impact on the community. He had stolen over £18,000 worth of goods over the 12 offences.
“The CBO granted will surely aid officers in curbing his offending as now if he breaches his CBO, he can be sent straight to court.”
