Pregnant horse injured with air gun pellet near Chichester
Police say 'thoughtless' youngsters may be behind the incident
A pregnant horse has been treated by vets after being shot with an air gun near Chichester.
The animal was found injured in fields at an equine centre of Hambrook Hill South in Hambrook on Monday.
It's understood she was struck by an air pellet overnight.
The horse, which is expecting a foal in a few days, has been treated by a vet and has recovered.
Sussex Police have said thoughtless youngsters may be responsible for the incident.
PC Callie Mackinnon said;
"This was a very unpleasant and dangerous act.
"Some young people have been seen playing in the area recently and we appeal to them and to anyone else who knows them to get in touch and meanwhile to take great care near animals.
