Lockdown-hit businesses to get financial support in Adur and Worthing
Here's how to claim a share of a £3 million fund
Around £3 million is being made available to support local traders and groups in Adur and Worthing which have been forced to close during the coronavirus lockdown.
The Government funding boost means eligible businesses and organisations forced to close can apply for up to £3,000 to cover costs for the next month.
Among those to benefit from the Local Restrictions Support Grant will be hospitality, leisure organisations, entertainment venues, hairdressers, community centres and places of worship.
The amount will depend on the size of the premises.
Businesses that have been told to close but are continuing to operate in some form, such as cafes offering takeaways or click and collect services, will still be eligible for the grant.
The Councils will also oversee the distribution of a further pot of discretionary support - known as the Additional Restrictions Grant - to those who are impacted but do not meet the initial criteria.
A spokesperson for Adur & Worthing Councils said:
"We know the pressures that local businesses and community groups are facing and the vital lifeline that this grant will provide, which is why we have got this programme up and running as quickly as possible.
"All those eligible will need to register their details with us and we will start processing claims immediately so that payments can be made swiftly.
"Be assured that, just like the first tranche back in Spring, we will be carrying out a series of checks to make sure only those eligible receive this vital funding.
"Anyone who makes a false claim will need to repay it and could be prosecuted by the government."
Those eligible are encouraged to register their details at the Councils’ online portal, which can be accessed via the Adur and Worthing Councils website.
