Missing Ashington man with dementia found safe

An 86 year-old man from Ashington with dementia who went missing on Friday afternoon (October 9th) has been found safe.

Searches were launched in the area for William Grimes, was last seen at 2pm.

Sussex Police had asked anyone who had seen William to call 999, amid conerns he may have headed towards Horsham along the A24.

The force confirmed that William had been found later on Friday evening and that all searches had been stood down as of 8pm.

They have thanked the member of public who spotted him and all those who were looking for him and who shared their initial appeal.
