Arrest following armed robbery at East Sussex Post Office

A man has been arrested in connection with a reported armed robbery at a post office in an East Sussex.
Officers sealed off the main road through Berwick on Thursday afternoon after being called to the site in Station Road at around 3pm on Thursday (October 17th).
An investigation was launched to find the suspect, who had left the scene following the incident.
A 52-year-old man from Seaford was arrested later in the evening on suspicion of armed robbery and possession of a firearm.
He remained in custody as of 8pm on Thursday.
Detective Inspector Steve Shimmons from Sussex Police said:
"The investigation into this incident is ongoing, but we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection.
"There will be an increased police presence in the area into the morning, and I would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding, particularly during the initial phases of the incident.
"The main road through the village has now been reopened.
"Anyone who saw what happened or has relevant video footage is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting serial 791 of 17/10."
