Elderly woman assaulted in Tesco car park in Crawley

The 87-year-old was hit in the face which caused bruising to her eye

An elderly woman who was assaulted outside a Tesco store in Crawley has sparked a police appeal for witnesses.

It happened in the shop located in Hazelwick Avenue around 12.05pm on Thursday (September 2).

The 87-year-old victim suffered bruising to her eye and was left very shaken after she was hit in the face.

Officers investigating the matter are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The shop's car park was busy during the day and it is believed a lot of people would have been in the vicinity at the time of the assault.
