Proposals to do up Bognor Regis Arcade are going ahead in hopes to boost the local economy.

Councillors unanimously approved refurbishing and expanding the upper floors and building up to 35 new apartments, as well as working on the ground floor commercial space.

It's part of ongoing work to make the town centre 'more vibrant' and increase footfall.

The enhancements to the building will also make it fully weatherproof and improve energy efficiency.

However, with the building dating back to 1902, it's hoped original features can be preserved where they can.

Some planned investigative work is scheduled for 30 January to inspect the clock above The Arcade.

Following this inspection, which has been timed to ensure minimum disruption to events taking place in the town centre, a contractor will determine whether onsite repairs are possible that day or the clock needs to be removed for off-site work.
