Person in life-threatening condition following West Sussex crash

A person has suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision in West Sussex.

Police were called to reports of a collision involving a Renault Clio and a parked vehicle on The Common in West Chiltington at just after midnight on Sunday (January 15th).

The Clio’s passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and has been taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for emergency treatment.

The driver of the Clio left the scene.

A 55-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving; driving whilst unfit through drink; and failing to report a road accident.

He remained in custody as of Sunday evening.

Officers investigating the collision are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, including anyone who may have captured any relevant CCTV, doorbell, or dash cam footage from the area.
