Peacehaven: man, 40, arrested on suspicion of murder over death of woman

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of a woman at a house in Peacehaven.

The 40-year-old is also being questioned on suspicion of administering a noxious substance.

Police said they were called to Skylark Avenue on Monday afternoon.

Forensic experts have been seen going into the home on a new housing development on the edge of the town.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services were called to a report of a woman in medical distress at an address in Skylark Avenue, Peacehaven, on Monday afternoon.

"Despite the efforts of paramedics, the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and administering a noxious substance and remains in custody.

"The suspect and the woman are known to each other.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death and her next of kin have been informed."
