Sussex police borrow kayak after driver gets stuck
Officers come to the rescue after drink-driver gets stuck in flood
Sussex Police offices used kayaks to wade through the water and conduct a breath test on a driver who got stuck in flood waters.
James Doyle misjudged the road in North Bersted Street, Bognor, and ended up crashing his car into water.
Members of the public offered the officers kayaks so they could complete their checks on the car.
Doyle admitted drink-driving after he was found to be more than three times the legal alcohol limit.
He was sentenced to eight weeks' imprisonment, suspended for 12 months when he appeared at Worthing Magistrates' Court on Monday, 5 February.
Doyle was also disqualified from driving for 29 months and ordered to pay a total of £239.
