Motorcyclist seriously hurt in collision with van in Portslade

Police have questioned a driver on suspicion of drug-driving and dangerous driving

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Portslade in which a motorcyclist sustained serious injuries.

The crash, which also involved a blue VW van, happened at the junction of Wellington Road and Church Road at just before 8.25am on Wednesday (March 16th).

The A259 was closed in the immediate vicinity for the incident to be attended to.

The 25-year-old man, from Brighton, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment after sustaining serious head injuries.

A 34-year-old man from Southwick was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs over the specified limit.

After being interviewed he was released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Rob Baldwin of the Surrey & Sussex Serious Collision Investigation Unit said;
