A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in West Sussex.

Police say it happened on the M23 southbound carriageway near Pease Pottage at around 9.10pm on Wednesday 20th October.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The force is appealing for witnesses who may have seen what happened or captured the incident on dash cam and are urged to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Op Maywood.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Sussex Police said:

"In the meantime, due to the adverse weather conditions, the M23 has been closed in both directions between Crawley and Pease Pottage.

"The closure is likely to remain in place for some hours and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes. Highways workers are on scene.

"We thank you for your patience and understanding."

However, National Highways took to social media at 7.16am to say that the motorway has now reopened.
