Motorcyclist fighting for his life following A27 crash

Police were called to the stretch near Worthing yesterday afternoon (Monday 23rd)

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash near Worthing yesterday (Monday 23rd).

The 20-year-old, from the town, was seriously injured after his Yamaha collided with a white Ford Transit van on the westbound A27 at Clapham at around 5.17pm.

Sussex Police said the victim remained in hospital as of midday on Tuesday.

The van driver, a 62-year-old man from Waterlooville in Hampshire, was uninjured in the collision.

A section of the road was closed for several hours to allow for recovery and forensic examination, but had reopened as of 3am on Tuesday.

Sussex Police has asked anyone who saw what happened, or captured any relevant dash cam or mobile footage, to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Mildenhall.
