Drivers are being reminded that upcoming lane closures on the A27 east of Lancing in West Sussex start this weekend.

These lane restrictions will allow work to build a new roundabout on the A27, whichit's claimed will provide better connection to Brighton City Airport and give access to the New Monks Farm development.

National Highways has also started work on the main carriageway and has temporarily closed some filter lanes, footways and cycleways in order to begin construction.

From 8pm on Friday 3 until 6am Monday 27 March, the A27 will be down to one lane westbound between the Old Shoreham Road (Brighton City Airport) junction and Hoe Court.

New overnight closures will take place on the A27 westbound between the Old Shoreham Road junction and Hoe Court from:

• 8pm on Friday 10 until 6am on Monday 13 March

• 8pm on Friday 17 until 6am on Monday 20 March

• 8pm on Friday 24 until 6am on Monday 27 March (contingency in case of overrun of works)

Drivers should follow the diversion sign on the westbound from the Shoreham Bypass A283 Steyning Road to A24 from Offington Corner via Washington roundabout.

Pedestrians and cyclists may be diverted through the westbound layby. When lane closures are in place, there will be a 40mph speed limit to keep road workers and the travelling public safe.
