Man remanded in custody charged with rape in Worthing
A man was sexually assaulted near the Guildbourne Centre
A man has appeared before magistrates charged with the rape of another man in Worthing.
The victim, who is receiving specialist support from officers, was attacked near the Guildbourne Centre, in Chapel Road, at around 9pm on Tuesday, August 8.
Richard Dawkins, of Northbrook Road, Broadwater, appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court today, August 10, where he was remanded in custody.
The 53-year-old is next due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on September 7.
Police are urging the public not to speculate on social media as this risks causing prejudice to the ongoing legal proceedings.
