Man admits seriously injuring cyclist in Bexhill collision

A 21-year-old man has pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to a cyclist in a road collision in Bexhill.

Reece Ripley, unemployed of no fixed address appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court yesterday (Thursday 3rd June), charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by driving whilst disqualified and driving with no insurance.

The incident happened just after 10am on Tuesday 1st June, when a 50-year-old cyclist and Ripley, who was riding a motorcycle, collided in De La Warr Parade in the town, close to the junction with Sutton Place.

The cyclist was taken to hospital by air ambulance where he remains in a serious condition.

Ripley has been remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday 1st July for sentencing.
