Man killed and woman seriously injured in West Sussex crash

Emergency services were called to the A24 on Easter Sunday

Police are appealing after a man was killed in a crash on the A24 in West Sussex, which also left a woman fighting for her life in hospital.

A Peugeot 209 left the road at the junction of the A264 and A24 northbound at Broadbridge Heath on Sunday night (April 17th), with emergency services called to the scene at around 7.45pm.

Sussex Police said an 80-year-old man from Peaslake in Surrey, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

A 69-year-old woman, 69, sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and remains at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in a critical, but stable condition.

A Sussex Police spokesman said:

“Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal collision at Broadbridge Heath.

“Emergency services were called to the junction of the A264 and A24 northbound after a vehicle left the slip road carriageway at about 7.45pm on Sunday, April 17.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has footage of the Peugeot in the minutes before the incident is asked to email: collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk and quote Operation Linford.”
