Man jailed for carrying out violent assault in Hastings
The victim was left with a fractured eye socket and internal bleeding
A man who carried out a violent assault in Hastings which left another man with a fractured eye socket and internal bleeding has been jailed.
35-year-old, Darryl Crane, of Halton Place in the town, attacked his victim at a flat in Priory Road in April 2020 after spending the night drinking together.
Police found the victim unconscious in the street outside before he was taken to hospital.
Crane will spend nine years behind bars and three more on license.
A teenager also detained following the attack has been given a three-year community order.
Investigating officer Caroline Bendell said: “This was a sustained assault that left the victim with serious injuries.
"I would like to commend the bravery shown by the victim and witnesses in this matter by coming to court and providing their evidence.
"It is thanks to their courage along with the evidence put forward by Sussex Police that meant the jury were able to come to a guilty verdict."
