UPDATE: Man charged following house fire in Crawley

Police investigating a fire in Crawley in which a dog died have charged a man on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

Emergency services were called to a house in Creasys Drive in Broadfield at around 3.33pm on Saturday (September 14th).

No-one was injured in the fire.

60-year-old Adrian West, of no fixed address, has also been charged in connection with a number of offences dating between January and September 2024:

  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm on 22 May;
  • Intentional strangulation on 22 May;
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm between 1 January and 14 September;
  • Assault by beating between 1 January and 14 September;
  • Criminal damage on 13 September.

He is due to appear before Crawley Magistrates' Court on Monday (September 16th).

Sussex Police has said its officers will remain in the area for the foreseeable future as enquiries continue, and for community reassurance.
