Man charged after large cannabis factory discovered in Crawley

A man has been charged after police discovered a large cannabis factory in Crawley.
The Sussex force’s Tactical Enforcement Unit received intelligence earlier this month before carrying out a search warrant at a house in Shetland Close on August 16.
All the rooms inside had been converted to support the growth of cannabis.
UK Power Networks also attended for safety measures after they found the electricity had been bypassed.
Officers seized a large quantity of plants and equipment, which have now been destroyed.
Bledar Kurti, of no fixed address, is accused of producing a Class B drug and abstracting of using electricity without authority.
The 22-year-old has been remanded in custody to appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on September 15.
TEU Sergeant Andy Bryant said: "Thanks to members of the public remaining vigilant and reporting their concerns relating to this property, we were able to successfully disrupt a supply chain and make an arrest.
"Criminal conduct such as this will not be tolerated by Sussex Police and we will continue to work towards terminating drug distribution routes and bringing the offenders behind these criminal operations to justice."
