Man charged after firearm spotted at Maresfield Services
The man was charged with possessing an air weapon in a public place
A man has been charged following a report that a firearm had been seen at Maresfield Services in Uckfield.
At around 11pm on Tuesday, January 6, a man was reportedly seen in the area carrying a firearm.
Officers, including an armed response team, attended the scene.
Enquiries led to the discovery of a vehicle the suspect was believed to have left the area in.
Officers attended an address linked to the vehicle, and a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an air weapon in a public place.
A gas-powered BB revolver was also seized from the address.
On Wednesday, January 7, Johnjoe Doyle, of Nevil Road in Uckfield was charged with the same offence and has been bailed to appear before Brighton Magistrates' Court on February 13.
