Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after incident in Crawley

A police officer has been taken to hospital after sustaining a minor laceration to his hand

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident in Crawley this morning.

Police were called to West Green Drive following concerns for a man in possession of a knife at around 9.35am.

The suspect was detained, during which time an officer sustained a minor laceration to his hand.

He has been taken to hospital for treatment.

A local man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.

The knife was found and the scene has been secured as police continue with their enquiries.

Sussex Police have said they believe this to be an isolated incident and are reassuring people that there is no threat to the wider community.
