Man arrested following Southwater hit and run
The victim needed hospital treatment after the collision
Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run collision in Southwater.
The incident took place near to the Hen and Chicken pub in Worthing Road between 7pm and 7.30pm last Thursday night (August 12th).
A white VW Tiguan vehicle which was driven erratically mounted the kerb, hitting a 23-year-old pedestrian.
Sussex Police said the driver of the Tiguan then got out of the vehicle to shout at the victim, before getting back into his vehicle and driving towards Southwater Village.
The victim suffered a laceration to his head and was taken to hospital for treatment.
It is believed the vehicle had also mounted the opposite grass verge prior to the incident, narrowly missing members of the public.
A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and failing to stop after a road collision.
He has been released on bail until September 9th.
Detective Constable Steve Smethurst said:
“We would like to hear from anyone who saw the incidents or has any dash cam or CCTV footage of them to come forward.”
