Man arrested following armed robbery at Goring store

Staff were threatened at knifepoint

Police have arrested a man in connection with a string of robberies in West Sussex, including an armed robbery at a store in Goring.

A man wearing a balaclava threatened staff at the Tesco Express in Goring Way at knifepoint at around 7.50am on Saturday (October 21st), before making off with £150 from the till.

No-one was hurt in the incident.

A 20-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of committing robbery at the Tesco Express and a further two robberies which were reported on Sunday morning (22 October) at the Co-op store and Salvington Food Centre in Salvington Road in Worthing.

Sussex Police said the man remained in custody as of Sunday evening.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incidents.
