Man arrested following pharmacy robberies in East Sussex
An investigation is now underway after reports of robberies
A man has been arrested following two reports of robberies at pharmacies in East Sussex.
Sussex Police say they received reports of a man entering the stores and telling staff he had a knife and demanding drugs.
They say the incidents happened at Boots Pharmacy in Eastbourne Road, Pevensey, and at Kamsons Pharmacy in Victoria Avenue, Eastbourne, on Saturday (27 April).
A 42-year-old suspect has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of robbery.
Police said nothing was taken from the Boots store after the man was challenged by a customer, but drugs were taken from the Kamsons store.
Nobody was hurt.
Chief Inspector Andy Nicklin said:
“Whilst we understand that incidents like this are traumatic for staff, we have made numerous visits to pharmacies in the area to provide additional crime prevention advice and reassurance.
"We have worked hard to quickly identify the suspect and promptly make an arrest.”
The force are now appealing for witnesses.
