Littlehampton Corgi breeder shares memories of meeting the Queen
Sarah Taylor was personally invited to meet Her Majesty several times
A woman from Littlehampton, who has been breeding corgis for many years, shared her memories of meeting Queen Elizabeth II.
The first time was at a dog show in Old Windsor, where Sarah Taylor and a few others were invited back to the Queen's home.
She said: "It was just a bungalow. The Queen pulled up in a car, came in and we all met her. It was lovely. She knew quite a lot about us, which was a bit of a shock, but she'd obviously been following the breed."
They met twice more, including at Sandringham, where she was asked to bring her dogs along.
Sarah expressed her 'sadness' over Her Majesty's death; claiming she was an ambassador for the breed.
The monarch's love of corgis is no secret - with reports she has had around 30 in her lifetime.
Sarah said: "She was very much taken with what we call the earlier type of corgi from the 1930s and 1940s; that era. They were quite a bit different looking to how our show corgis look today.
She added: "It's a slightly old fashioned look. She liked them to be quite deep red in colour and with not a lot of white markings."
Queen Elizabeth II's beloved dogs are now said to be going to her son, Prince Andrew, and his ex-wife.
