Inquest re-opens into death of deaf Brighton mental health advocate killed by "substance"
Imogen Nunn shared her mental health journey on the app TikTok, before being found dead in her flat on New Year's Day 2023
An inquest is re-opening into the death of a death mental health advocate from Brighton - after being pushed back for two months due to a lack of sign language interpreters.
Imogen Nunn, who documented her journey with complex PTSD and mixed personality disorder on social media app TikTok, was found dead in her home on the 1st of January 2023 after taking a “substance” she had ordered online six weeks prior.
Two deaf witnesses are now due to give evidence today and tomorrow in Horsham.
Urgent assessments "carried out with no interpreters present"
Previous hearings have already established the 25-year-old struggled to access an interpreter to help mental health practitioners for support during meetings and assessments.
In a prevention of future deaths report, West Sussex Coroner Penelope Schofield already assessed this as a cause for concern, meaning "urgent assessments are being carried out without interpreters present".
On the night before her death, New Year's Eve 2022, Imogen - known as 'Immy' to her family - had been out at a party with friends after leaving her assistance dog with her parents.
She was reported missing as a high-risk individual after leaving the gathering.
Despite confirming she was "safe and well" to police at around 6am on New Year’s Day, she was later found dead in her flat.
The inquest is expected to conclude by Friday .
