Horsham shoppers are being given the chance to win a £300 haul of Christmas goodies - as part of a campaign to get people shopping local.

The Gift Hunters campaign, launched by Horsham District Council, features a series of informative videos, encourages shoppers to buy their Christmas gifts locally – either online or in person where possible.

The ‘Buy Local’ initiative also recently created a new online shopping portal, a directory of local traders featuring gift ideas and special offers for everyone across the district.

The series of Gift Hunter videos will be released throughout November, showing a family shopping locally online for their presents for each other, taking advantage of the many local businesses that have adapted their services to include, click and collect and home delivery options.

The presents featured in the videos are gathered together to create one massive gift bundle worth over £300 for viewers to win.

Those taking part in the competition will have to complete a quiz set on the Horsham District Council Facebook page and explore local business websites to pick present ideas.

The competition runs from 16th to 30th November 2020.

Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for the Local Economy, Cllr Paul Clarke, said:

“I think we can all do with a little inspiration to find those unexpected special presents for the ones we love, and I am no exception.

“Our campaign shows there are no shortage of gift ideas in our District’s independent businesses, on or off the high street, and I urge everyone to become a ‘Horsham District Gift Hunter’ and to ‘Buy Local’ to support our local economy this year.”
