The family of a woman who went missing from Worthing on this day in 2018 has renewed their appeal for information, alongside the charity Missing People.

Georgina Gharsallah, then 30, went missing back in 2018.

Speaking to Sussex Police, Andrea, Georgina’s mother, said:

“Not knowing what has happened to Georgina has held us back in life. It’s hard to move forward through the fear of leaving Georgina behind. I can’t ever leave her behind.

“When I plan to do things with my other daughters you feel guilty because Georgina isn’t here.

“She was a personable, loving, affectionate, vivacious and sometimes lively person who was very family orientated.

“Not a day goes by that she is absent from our thoughts and we urge people to come forward with information. Anything is vital and it might give us the lead, just that little lead that we need. Never think that the information isn’t worthy enough, it is.”

Over 70 potential sightings of Georgina have been investigated by Sussex Police but none of them have proven to be her.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Andy Wolstenholme said:

“Today marks another year since Georgina went missing. As a mother, a daughter, a sister and a friend to so many, I can only imagine the pain each and every person who knew Georgina has gone through during this time.

“We continue to investigate all viable lines of enquiry and encourage anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and speak either to Sussex Police or to the independent charity Crimestoppers.

“Any information we receive will be treated in strict confidence.”

Her sister Sara has written a poem to mark the third anniversary of her disappearance:

You are gone

You are gone and so am I.

You are gone, we don’t know why.

You are gone, gone with the wind.

You are gone, but we won’t give in.

As another season passes and the leaves fall.

We still look for answers, through the pain of it all.

This ambiguous loss is too much to bare

We wish that one day we come home to find you standing there.

Some days we have hope and some days we have none.

Because there is no answer as to why you are gone, you are gone, you are gone.

Georgina is described as having Mediterranean features, had shoulder-length black hair at the time she went missing and is 5’2. She would now be 33 years old.

Missing People Publicity Officer, Jemima Compton, said:

“Georgina, if you are reading this, please call or text us on 116 000. It’s free and confidential and we can’t trace your call. We just want to provide you with the support you need and help you to be safe. The helpline is here to support people who are missing or thinking of going missing and their loved ones who are left behind.”
