Gatwick bike thief jailed
Max Huggett will spend 15 months behind bars
A prolific bike thief has been jailed for 15 months after being caught stealing at Gatwick Airport.
Max Huggett, 30, was caught on CCTV looking at bikes locked in a shed by the South Terminal on January 23rd this year.
The owner of a bike left there returned to find it stolen but security at the airport found footage of Huggett taking the item.
He was identified as he had previously been given a suspended sentence for similar offences at the airport.
Huggett's address in Colman Way, Surrey was searched and clothing was found, matching the clothes he was seen wearing on CCTV.
PC Michelle Robinson/Detective Sergeant Ian Warncken, investigating, said: “Huggett has been a repeat offender at Gatwick Airport where he has stolen bicycles and property.
“It causes disruption to victims who have worked their shift at the airport and return to find their property has been stolen.
“This case demonstrates that we will work with our partners to identify and catch offenders and stop them causing harm to other victims.”
