Gatwick Airport issues advice for holidaymakers as it braces for busiest day of summer season
900 flights will be taking off and landing at the transport hub today
Gatwick Airport is sharing it's top tips for holidaymakers it marks it's busiest day of the summer season.
Today - there'll be around 900 flights taking off and landing there, with the airport already seeing 20 million passengers this year so far.
With new routes, the airport's attracting holidaymakers flying to destinations from Spain to Shanghai, and now even Uganda and Kenya.
It's also upgraded security - ditching a rule around liquids of up to 100ml and electronics having to be removed from hand luggage to pass through.
Head of Passenger Operations, Nick Williams, encouraged passengers to make sure they're on time if they're travelling today:
"Plan your journey, whether you're coming by road or rail and if you're parking with us as part of our official London Gatwick parking, make sure that's sorted.
"Your airline will tell you what time to arrive, and it's really important you get here on time so that you can really enjoy the experience when you're here.
"We don't want passengers rushing through and, at its worse, potentially missing flights."
He added that the pre-fight experience has also been improved:"
We've invested quite significantly in the both terminals departure lounges, which has seen improved seating, more seating, better lighting and then also charge points in the seats, so passengers can charge their phones and tablets when they're in the departure lounge, as well as a lot of development in our retail offer.
"We've now got brands such as Pizza Express, Brew Dog and Krispy Kreme. So we've got really kind of diverse food and beverage offer as well."
