A former Sussex Police officer has been charged with misconduct in a public office.

46-year-old David Rolls, known as Will, is alleged to have abused his position of trust and responsibility to a woman known to him whilst he served as an officer in the West Sussex division between 1 January 2016 and 1 March 2018.

The allegation was referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct, who directed a local investigation by the Professional Standards Department be started.

Mr Rolls resigned as a Detective Chief Inspector in March this year.

He'll next appear before Brighton Magistrates Court on 14 September.
