Footage shows teenagers with suspected gun in Horsham
Two boys and a girl were spotted walking around with the weapon
Police have released footage of the moment a young person was spotted with an apparent gun in Horsham.
Officers were called to Thompson Road, Broadbridge Heath, on Saturday, June 17.
CCTV was later found to show three youths, thought to be two boys and a girl, walking along the road around 30 minutes before.
One was seen hiding the weapon near members of the public before the group reportedly crossed the intersection with Sargent Way.
Horsham District policing commander, Chief Inspector, Sarah Leadbetter, said: "The manner and circumstances in which this weapon was being carried are unusual, but understandably caused serious concern for the residents in the area.
“It may be that it was just an act of bravado, but anyone who carries a weapon in this way is committing an offence.
“Additionally, any such reports can result in a fully armed response by tactical firearms officers, whose weapons are indeed real and they will treat any such sighting as being a significant threat."
Police are now trying to identify the group and are urging anyone with information to contact the force online or by calling 101, quoting serial 1869 of 17.06.
