Some West Sussex residents have been told to take 'immediate action' to prepare for possible flooding on Saturday (November 14th).

The Environment Agency has issued a warning for those living in the Bosham and West Itchenor areas.

Unsettled weather is expected around the morning high tide at 10.15am, with wind gusts potentially reaching gale force 6, pushing up the height of waves.

Flood alerts have also been issued for much of the coast from Hayling Island to Littlehampton.

Here's what the Environment Agency are saying:

FLOOD WARNING - Bosham and West Itchenor

"For 1 hour either side of high water, flooding will affect Shore Road and a small number of properties in Bosham High Street and Gloucester Terrace. Water will reach the top of slipways in West Itchenor. High tide at 22:30 on 14/11/2020 will cause no impact.

At 10:45 on Sunday 15/11/2020, the tide could be similar to Saturday morning.

"If you have it, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide."

FLOOD ALERTS

Hayling Island

"For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney will flood. At South Hayling, strong winds may move or remove shingle on the beach. If this occurs, some garden flooding may affect beach front properties.

"At 11:00 on Sunday (15/11/2020), tide levels are similar but marginally lower. We may issue further advice.

"We are liaising with the local authority over the condition of the beach at South Hayling.

"Avoid South Hayling seafront at high tide and avoid driving through flood water on low lying roads, especially at Northney."

Langstone to Emsworth Harbour

"For 1 hour either side of high water, levels will be high at South Street and Queen Street Emsworth. The Ship Inn car park, Langstone will flood. Water will flow across the A259 junction with Lumley Road, flooding driveways. Road flooding will affect the bottom third of Langstone High Street. The depth of flood water in some roads may be up to 0.2m.

"At 11:00 on Sunday (15/11/20), the tide will cause minor impact flooding. We will issue further advice.

"In Emsworth, we will lower levels in the Mill Pond and install drop boards to protect property.

"If you have it, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide."

Selsey Bill to Elmer

"For 1 hour either side of high water, Mill Lane, Sidlesham will flood, making access temporarily more difficult. High tide at 22:30 on 14/11/2020 will cause no impact.

"At 10:45 on Sunday 15/11/2020 the tide could be similar to Saturday morning. We’ll issue further advice.

"If you have it, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide.

"Avoid driving on Mill Lane at high tide."

Climping Seafront

"For 2 hours either side of high water, the tide could overtop Climping sea front. A small amount of water could affect Climping Street car park, Climping Street and nearby land and fields.

"Stormy seas are dangerous, be careful if visiting the exposed coast at South Terrace. Shingle can be contained and carried in waves and spray.

"Plan driving routes to avoid Quayside Road."

Tidal areas of Littlehampton Rope Walk

"For 2 hours either side of high water, the tide will cause flooding to boatyards and the industrial areas along Littlehampton Rope Walk.

"Water will be high up slipways and could be forced up through drains causing flooding to roads.

"If you have it, please install flood protection 2 hours before high tide."
