A Bexhill woman who's spent four years waiting for flammable cladding to be removed in her block of flats has compared working to fix it to having a second "full time job."

It comes as figures released today reveal people living in 2,394 high-rise buildings are still waiting to have dangerous cladding fixed.

1,392 remediation works have already been completed and 985 are in progress.

Adrienne Burton, who is part of the Tenants Association in her block of flats The Landmark, told Greatest Hits Radio that "leaseholders and tenants have had to put up with uncertainty" since October 2020, when they found out they were affected by the scandal.

"The hoops we've had to jump through and the stuff we've had to deal with - some residents have sadly not even lived to see it finished, which is just heartbreaking."

The residents have been given a finish date of October - but Adrienne says a warranty claim now investigating the inside of the building means it could take "at least another year" until everything is fixed.

She added: "The Tenants Association Committee have been on a massive, steep learning curve.

"It's a huge responsibility on our shoulders, and what we have had to learn is above and beyond what any committee should ever have to do and, actually, what we sign up for.

"The only people involved in this truly, at the centre of it all and living in darkness and noise here, are the only ones not being paid for anything we've done.

"How is that fair?

"Who's idea is it that we can't get paid for our time, or even compensation of some sort, for all the leaseholders, not just the committees around the country.

"Instead we still don't know if this is actually going to cost us.

"We may have to pay for other people's mistakes again. It's just not fair."
