Firefighters tackle blaze at Brighton house

Firefighters have been continuing to tackle a blaze that happened at a home in Brighton.

The incident first occurred at Downs Terrace last night, with the blaze reigniting today.

Residents have been removed from the area.

On social media Brighton and Hove Police wrote:

"Emergency services are currently responding to a fire in Down Terrace, Brighton. A number of residents are being evacuated as a safety precaution and properties in the area are advised to keep their windows and doors shut.

"Down Terrace is closed between its junctions with Plumpton Road and St Luke’s Road. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and find alternative travel routes where possible.

Sussex Police say the incident is being treated as deliberate and enquiries are ongoing.
