Firefighters rescue dog from house blaze in Selsey

Ziggy suffered smoke inhalation in the incident

Fire crews have rescued a dog from a burning house in Selsey following a fire there on Monday evening (October 5th).

Crews from the town, East Wittering and Chichester were called to the scene in East Street at around 5pm.

People living nearby were told to keep windows and door closed during the incident.

Ziggy was found to be suffering with smoke inhalation and was safely taken out of the property.

No-one else suffered injuries as a result of the fire.

In a tweet, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the fire is believed to have started accidentally.

The last engine left the scene at 7.10pm.
