The 200 year old facade of Brighton's Royal Albion Hotel could be demolished today - three days after a fire broke out there.

999 crews remain at the scene with pockets of flame believed to still be burning deep in the building, it's thought the only way to access those and extinguish them is to knock down the historic seafront frontage.

Fire crews were first called out on Saturday afternoon to the site which faces Brighton Pier.

Strong winds through the night on Saturday into Sunday hampered the efforts to put it out.

Most of the oldest parts of the building which dates back to 1829 have been gutted.

The hotel survived a previous fire back in 1998.
