England cricketer Jofra Archer has signed a new one-year contract with Sussex.

Archer, who has suffered a series of long-term injury problems in recent years, remains on a central deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board but has agreed a 12-month extension with his county.

The 28-year-old seam bowler has not played for Sussex this season due to a stress fracture of the elbow and last featured in the County Championship more than two years ago, but it is understood his new contract covers all formats in 2024.

Archer trained with England at the Kia Oval earlier this week and is being considered as a travelling reserve for next month's World Cup in India.

"There is no place I'd rather be, it is a lovely club with even lovelier people," he said.

Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace said:

"I am delighted that Jofra has extended his stay at Sussex and we are all really looking forward to seeing him back playing.

"He is a fantastic professional and person to have around the squad when he's with us."

Archer first swapped Barbados for Hove in 2016 and took 181 first-class wickets before qualifying for England duty in 2019.
