Eastbourne motorcyclist convicted for riding while drunk
Footage shows Cameron Dixon riding over the pavement and falling off his bike
Sussex Police have released footage of the moment a motorcyclist was questioned for riding while drunk in Eastbourne.
Cameron Dixon was seen riding over the pavement and falling off his bike at the McDonald's drive through at the Admiral Retail Park around 1.30am on April 25.
He was asked to complete a breath test, which found he was more than twice over the legal alcohol limit.
The 28-year-old, of Whitley Road, Eastbourne, admitted driving over the limit at Hastings Magistrates’ Court and was disqualified from driving for 17 months.
He was also ordered to pay a combined fine, costs and a surcharge of more than £500.
Sergeant Chris Ambrose said: “The footage shows how unsteady Dixon was. He was in no fit state to be riding his motorcycle that night.
“He put his own safety, and the safety of other road users, at risk.
“This case demonstrates the ongoing importance of reporting potential drink-drivers to the police.
“Drink-driving is one of the main causes of people being killed or seriously injured on our roads, so informing the police really could save someone’s life.”
